I have enjoyed the books and audio books a great deal of the time and the artistry was good and I'm not a woman who doesn't like provocative pictures and language but the idea of a police officer showing breast so much or a warriors clothing not being practical or fitting in to the area she (Kara) has chosen to protect . Knowing that we all use our imagination to fill out the mental landscape of all the books we read especially the lesbian/paranormal and romance novels .......I'm a bit disappointed and yet not. Keep up with breaking new ground and I will follow.

This is simply amazing!!! Having an over active imagination i saw the entire book return to asgard like a movie in my head but actually seeing the art is just wow!!! The art is amazing and detailed. I had to laugh at some of the dialogue because they were illustrated so well I'm a huge fan of erik schubach and his books and seeing one as a comic just really blows my mind readily waiting for the next issue since this one was such a tease!!!

Erik Schubach is brilliant, but. In comic form he is absolutely wonderful!!! The story in book form was good, also in audio book but in comic form it just jumps right out at you, You see Cara fighting for the return of her home world and Kate who ends fighting beside her.

Wonderful! I loved it. Everything from the art to the storyline is fantastic. There are a few differences from the book, but these differences work. My only disappointment is that the sequel isn't here yet. I can't wait for the rest!

I'm not usually a comic book fan but having read the original book I was rather interested in seeing the what the artist had came up with. I was not disappointed except maybe with the length. the artists interpretation of the first character interactions was amazing. I can't wait for the next issue comes out.

I'm going to start by saying that I love the books that this is based off. I liked the art and the effort taken to adapt the books for this format but I wanted Kara to keep her long hair. oh well can't have everything now can we

OMG, I love it. This guy just keeps publishing more and more stuff I can buy. The story obviously is familiar but the artwork is new. And the artwork is great. Of course, I have a picture in my head of what Kara and Kate look like, but this is even better. Seeing the action that I have only been able to imagine up to now is wonderful. Eros Cara is clearly both competent and talented. Her artwork puts an edge on the story that makes it fun and fascinating. Since this is called "Issue #1", clearly there will be more. I am looking forward to them with great desire and anticipation.

If this book is even 50% accurate we have been the victims of a tragic case of following a corrupt leader. Based upon this book and other information regarding Kinsey I tend to suspect that this book is far more than 50% accurate.Kinsey claimed to be a legitimate researcher, objectively studying sexual behavior. From a number of sources the picture is painted of a researcher that was sexually abusive to himself and others. Kinsey's objectivity is questionable if, indeed, he was sex addicted and trying to normalize his own behavior through his work.Judith Reisman words are worthwhile and obviously spoken from sincerity. She pulls no punches and says what needs to be said. I'm surprised by how much even my own values have been swayed over the years but reading this book is a major reality check. Everything she said rings true to my experience. When I was a child, my elders, not just within the family, but those I encountered in school or everyday life, were sexually very conservative. The Greatest Generation that she speaks about were, at least in my estimation, very down to earth and had high standards. In line with what she said in her book, the disease rates and teen pregnancy rates bear this out. Kinsey tried to paint a different picture and thereby made that Greatest Generation look like hypocrites.I think it comes down to revisionism for the benefit of "normalizing" his own behavior. My generation was more likely to be sexually active as teens than my parent's generation but it was still relatively uncommon and anyone that dared try was unlikely to be worried about STDs; they were effectively non-existent in our age group. If my generation was thusly restrained the WW II generation could only have been even more so.Most people coming of age in our day never learn any degree of sexual self-control and this is an absolute necessity within a long term relationship. A lot of men these days can't even imagine a few month's celibacy when their wife in in the late stages of pregnancy or directly after childbirth. I can't imagine my father or either of my grandfathers demanding a hall pass to cope with such a situation, yet that is not unknown in our day.Nowadays sexual techniques are published in women's magazines sold at the checkout line of the supermarket. One could easily get the impression that sexual satisfaction requires years of study and practice to achieve, but the generations before ours didn't see things this way. I see it all as a mosaic of social pressures that have moved couples away from intimacy and love and in the direction of maximizing sensation instead. No one can live on cake alone, but some of these relationships are trying to survive on the icing, not to mention the cake. The emotional nutrition of intimacy doesn't seem to be on many people's radar anymore.Sexual Sabotage, IMO, hits it on the head. Things have changed drastically in the last 60 years or so and Kinsey's misleading research has been a big part of it. There's much more freedom, but I don't think that there's all that much satisfaction. I was taken in by it to some degree, in spite of a strong moral background. But, even before reading this book I've noticed that some people seem to believe that they must live up to the mantra of the sexual revolution, even though it has not yielded positive results in their lives. You can almost see it when they speak, as they mentally review their thoughts before speaking lest they accidentally go contrary to the social norm as they perceive it.In my opinion, we have been sold a bill of goods regarding sex and Dr. Reisman's book helps to explain this. There may be more freedom today, but there is also more divorce, more disease and more people without a mate, living from encounter to encounter. Kudos to Dr. Reisman for standing against the tide and exposing Kinsey for what he truly was.Highly recommended if you find the current social climate distressing for its lack of morality.

The underlying message of this book -- the unquestionable ill effect of Kinsey and his gaggle of perverts on America -- is clear and well-substantiated. Unfortunately, organization is a bit odd and there is considerable repetition. Reisman is a vital balancy to the insanity of the Kinsey "revolution" but there are shorter summary books that likely are more helpful for casual or less academic readers.

I just kept thinking while I was reading how susceptible humanity has been historically to Kinsey and people like him (Hitler)...I bought this book because at 50 years old and as someone who has worked in the mental health field for the last 20 years I am appalled at the rise in disease, dysfunction and despair in this society especially among children. This book went a long way in helping me to understand. I am less concerned with a writer's credentials (something which Amazon reviewers seem to be obsessed with) as I am with whether or not the message rings true. The message of this book rings true to me. I would have given the book 5 stars but I found it to be repetitive and not particularly well written in some parts.

I really wish this book was on the best seller's list...

It is a fantastic and very useful book

The author presents a great deal of painstaking detail concerning this issue. I found the book very revealing and full of useful facts. The facts and truth must prevail.

Important message about the Kinsey studies that were based on falsified and unethical research. My only complaint is that sometimes the author's writing can turn polemical (even though she is absolutely correct in her assessment of the data!).

I've been backpack traveling for 20 years and this was my fourth trip to Nicaragua. It's a great adventure and still very authentic.Decided to get this book, since it was just released. Years ago, the LP books were just great. Gave you insight to all of the interesting nooks and cranny's of your destination country and gave lots of accurate travel and lodging information.That has steadily gone down hill and this has got to be the worst. I'm pretty sure these people never even visited some of these places - or they sent someone else or it had been visited years ago.Many of the facts [bus times, boat times, boat types, etc) are just wrong - and I'm talking about things that haven't changed since my first trip in 2006!The book doesn't even highlight or provide information on some of the best activities - I mean some really cool things to do - it's not even in the book. Doesn't make sense.Even the top 10 destinations are poorly covered. Take Vulcan Masaya - listed in the front on its own page as one the top things to do.Terrible. Everything from correct information about the "parrots" at night, lack of information about the lava tunnels, vague information on how to walk to the top (books says "it's a long hot walk"....Come on, give me some facts, it's 3 miles and 2000 ft elevation change and will take you 1.25 hrs on average), lacking transport information on how to hop on buses that pass every 2 minutes that will take you there for $0.25 from Masaya [or even Granada]And the reviews of the hotels / places to stay are TERRIBLY wrong.For example, we stayed at place not so highly rated by LP at Laguna de Apoyo. Well, that SAME place was rated a nearly perfect score on Trip Advisor AND voted BEST place to stay at Apoyo. So, How was the place? AWESOME. We extended out stay there twice. It was really good.At the beach town of San Juan del Sur, there's a beach shuttle from one of the hostels. The time of shuttles are on this home made wooden sign hanging high above. It's the same sign from before 2006. The times in the book are wrong! Thank god that we had so little faith in the book we decided to stop by early and check the time. If we hadn't we would have missed the only ride out to the awesome beaches on our last day. Unbelievable.I can go on and on. I cannot recommend this book.Why two stars vs one. Well if you had nothing or this book, it's still worth having. Only if you have no other choices.It really should be one star.

If you're visiting Nicaragua, you need a travel guide, and you need the newest available information, especially in Nicaragua since things are constantly changing--a two or three year old travel guide is essentially useless. And this guide does work. That said, it looks to me that the writers more or less just banged out this guide without doing the amount of work on the ground we users have a right to expect. My recent experience was that sometimes the hotel or restaurant or museum may not be located where they say it is, could be closed forever, could be a block or so away. The accommodations could be a lot less than described. And so on.Guys, next edition, spend a little more time checking your maps, checking out the rooms and facilities, checking out new options, etc.My experience using this edition was in the Northern Highlands. Perhaps a better job was done in other regions.

It seems that Lonely Planet has revised their format, and I don't like it as much as the old one. There's a lot less information - fewer lodging options listed, activities are described very briefly and in a way that's just kind of generic, the tone is a little more....flippant. There also are hardly any pictures anymore. The book is about half the size of what I was expecting, and I didn't find much at all that was helpful compared to previous LP books that I've used for other countries. I've always been a HUGE fan of LP, but in this case I thought the Moon guide was more useful. It just feels like they're trying to trim it, maybe turn it into something that will be primarily an online resource, so they pulled out a lot of content. It feels thin, literally and content-wise.

In the past I've used lonely planet guides for South East Asia and Europe and found them to be an invaluable travel companion, but the 2013 Nicaragua guide is absolutely terrible. The maps are unreliable and the information is outdated or just plain false.The best example of this was when we tried to go kayaking on Ometepe Island. The book recommended going to a specific part of the island where essentially every hotel rents kayaks. Not only do the hotels that the book directed us to not rent kayaks, but the river that the map and text described doesn't even exist. The historical details littered throughout the book also seem false. In the Ometepe Island description, it mentions how during the last large eruption of Conception none of the islanders evacuated to the mainland. When we asked locals about what it was like to be there during the eruption they all said something along the lines of "what? are you crazy? we left"I was surprised to find that everyone who worked in tourism in Nicaragua would laugh whenever a lonely planet guidebook was mentioned. Save yourself some time and frustration, and find another guidebook.

I bought this yesterday for my Kindle as I plan to travel to Nica next month, and thought I could save some room and weight in my backpack. Boy, was I ever disappointed!I expected the classic, chock full of information Lonely Planet book, full of gorgeous photos and information. This seems more like a poor attempt at packing a basic website into a Kindle book format. URLs abound within the 'book', which in itself isn't a bad thing, but for a traveller to remote areas in another country is as useless as tits on a bull. Lots of the photos seem to have empty placeholders (the classic '?' you see on broken photos links on a website) until they download. I have no idea if those will be available when I'm off the grid.The $13+ USD price I paid for it was a slap in the face, when in retrospect, I should have just bought a used copy of the physical book online.Do yourself a favour: avoid the Kindle version at least.

Basically same comments as other version of atlas. Gives good overview of countries but doesn't have detail on towns and road systems I'd hoped for. Wanted it for use on cruises to avoid carrying hardcopy atlas.

This just was not what I was expecting. There is no information, no history of any kind. If it were free, that's something else, but I paid for this. Would not recommend .

I find this atlas too small scale and general for my needs. I turn to an atlas for more detailed and larger scale maps.

Mary is the daughter of King Henry's first wife, who hated Elizabeth's mother, Anne Boleyn, and therefore, hates Elizabeth. Under Mary's rule, Elizabeth is in constant danger, forced to convert to Catholicism, and is put under arrest in the Tower of London. After countless betrayals, repeated imprisonments, and being treated like a common peasant, she still ascends the throne, but not after a long and painful journey to get there.While this book is aimed more towards girls, with its protagonist being a princess, it still has the adventure, beheadings, and various other elements that could make it appealing to boys as well. This is a really good book, and shows an insight to one of England's greatest monarch's days before she was queen. It also shows how little those of stature cared for each other. After her father's death, Elizabeth remembers the death of her father's fifth wife: "My mother was not the only wife my father sent to the Tower and then had put to death. I was eight years old when his fifth, Catherine Howard, was sentenced to die. All the nervous excitement of this latest execution could not be kept from me, and it was as if my own mother's execution were being repeated. I wept, I cried out, for days I could neither sleep nor eat. Kat, frantic to calm me, summoned the court physician to prescribe a sleeping drought. When I awoke it was over. I listened as servants whispered how Catherine Howard's head had been caught in a basket, her blood sopped up by crones with handkerchiefs, her body carried off for burial. The way it must have been for my mother, I thought, and I have thought of it many times since that day. Remembering Catherine Howard's death has always struck terror to my heart." (17-18.) This is an example of how ruthless the monarchs were at this point, and how even eight year old Elizabeth could be in danger. It also shows how empathetic Elizabeth is, even when thinking of the woman who faced the own doom as her own mother. This story is a lot like other stories of women in power at this time. Elizabeth is forced to persevere against the odds that she faces, and these odds are only increased by her gender. This book is a fantastic read for anyone who loves adventure and a bit of a history lesson at the same time.

We all know who Elizabeth I is; Gloriana, the Virgin Queen, the last of the Tudor monarchs. But underneath all the powder and the wigs, who was this woman? How did Elizabeth Tudor go from the scared cub of a lion to as ferocious as the lion himself?The book starts off with Henry's death, declaring weakling Edward as king. From there we get to see Elizabeth's life (albeit a PG-13 version) unfold; all the major events of her life are covered, such as Thomas Seymour's failed flirations, the Wyatt Rebellion, and her incarceration in the tower. Unfortunately, as most of Carolyn Meyer's Young Royals books do, the book ends before Elizabeth begins her reign. I suppose the purpose of these books is to focus on the familiar royal characters in their younger years and nothing more. I still wish that some of these books would at least cover the first year of he specific royal woman's reign, to show you how things started off for them once they took the throne.I myself am an adult who enjoys adding Tudor books to her collection, and this is definitely a worthy addition. It's perfect if you have a young person who has an interest in history, or is looking for a strong female role model.

Carolyn Meyer paints a wonderful picture of what Elizabeth's teenage years must have been like. This narrative, a historical fiction, tells of Elizabeth Tudor's years after her brother Edward's death and into her elder half-sister's reign. The rebellions and suspicions cast upon Elizabeth put her life in terrible danger, sending her to the tower where her mother was executed years earlier. It's a great book, especially for those of you guys and gals that loved Elizabeth I: Red Rose of the House of Tudor, England, 1544 (The Royal Diaries), this one is more geared towards the young adult market with its language and content. However, this novel doesn't focus on Elizabeth's romantic escapades like some novels do, just her struggle to maintain her faith and her life under her sister's ever watchful gaze. It is a great book, and I highly recommend it. :)

After all, she was the daughter of Henry VIII and the fallen Anne Boleyn. Life couldn't have been easy for her after her mother was executed, I kept thinking. Questions pounded through my head, one by one: How could such a young girl live through such a time? How did she cope with being the younger, supposedly "illegitimate" daughter of Henry VIII? How did she feel about being the daughter of a woman believed to be one of the worst of sinners?This book is woven with spellbinding magic, telling the story of a young girl and her struggle not only to be Queen of England, but also to be known, and I quote, "not for my (Elizabeth's) father (Henry VIII), or my mother (Anne Boleyn), or my sister (Queen Mary I of England, also Bloody Mary), but for myself (Elizabeth)."

Another great effort by Carolyn Meyers. Written from a framework of recorded history, but it is what "might have been" or what some other authors wrote. The history is accurate, but the personalities? Surely they were different then, and their lives were only what we might imagine. Elizabeth lived through the tribulations and was a long admired Queen. Her story is told here with flourish and class. Ms. Meyers has done it again, produced another historical fiction tale that will help many to understand a little better. It is a joy to read!

I love this book but moreso, my 3 year old granddaughter does too. We've read it so many times she's memorized it. Every letter of the alphabet has a rhyming anecdote to go with it. You can read it quickly or you can spread it out and make more of it to take up more time. Just terrific. For the ballet star in your life!

The illustrations in this book are exquisite. Even though this is an alphabet book it will appeal to all ages through elementary school and maybe higher. I spotted this one at a book fair but it was too much for my budget. I got a great deal on it at Amazon. This will be a gift for my Goddaughter whose Mother is a dance teacher.

I purchased this book to use in my dance class because another dance teacher recommended it, I ended up buying another copy for my boss because we all loved it so much!

(Don't worry, I'm not one of those people).This book is full of facts!** It does a great job of summarizing the first season of some internet show called The Grand Tour, but it does much more than that! (Though, it does not perform any tricks or favors). Fans of this show might enjoy this book.Even with that in mind, I feel compelled to give this book five stars simply because there is a photo of a Cinnabar Orange Aston Martin DB11 between pages 94 and 95.Also, pages 1-4 were bent in the corner and slightly torn on my copy. Purchased this as a gift but I ended up reading it myself first and man ... I almost wanted to order a second one for my collection. If you're a fan of old Top Gear and the new Grand Tour, this is a must buy.

This book was so good I had trouble putting it down.It was funny,silly,weird and informative.If you like GrandTour this book is for you.

Not what I was expecting. Read the kindle version. When they try to be funny they fail miserably. The tv show is a better option.

This was a gift for my son. Before I gave it to him, I glanced at it. It is a fantastic book!
