Love everything about this EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT THE POCKET IS UPSIDE DOWN. Dumb.

Love the hard cover and the spiral is great. Love the monthly calendar. It has great room to make notes. Has daily to schedule. It is very well put together. Wish it had more note pages. It has a bunch but I take a lot of notes. Fits in my purse and easy to take everywhere. Will buy another one next year. Highly recommend!

Many of the calendar appointment days are missing. For example, January 2019 begins with January 7. February begins with February 4. May with the 6th and so on.

On first glance, this book seems quite a find; it comes with a CD-ROM complete with all the contracts discussed in the manuscript. The book's format is also very user-friendly; the left hand page displays contractual language, while the right hand page explains the "legalese" in lay-person's terms. The scope of the book covers the major contracts any indie producer (film or TV) will undoubtedly use. But there's a catch (and a BIG one at that)...The book is written by an English attorney, and seems tailored to English law. The U.S. publisher has neglected to indicate this fundamental split anywhere on the cover. Although American Law originally came from English Common law, there are just too many differences between the two system's today to make this a reliable source for American producers and attorneys unfamiliar with the differences between both systems.A case in point is the book's treatment of Copyright law. The English system is a bit different than ours; copyright terms and policy issues are often at variance with U.S. law. These subtle differences will probably slip by most producers and attorneys unfamiliar with U.S. intellectual property law..Bottom line: it is a good book if you are well-grounded in American contract and I.P. law and want to see how the English handle entertainment contracts. But if you aren't well versed in differences between the two legal systems, the ease of downloading a contract form that may not comport with American law might get you into more trouble than its worth.

I found this book to be very helpful and informative. Although a British legal system book, the fundamentals of filmmaking and legal issues around them are very well set out. Because the industry is global this book really does shed alot of light on the subject matter. The CD Rom with the book is also very helpful

This is fantastic it has a lot of recipes from western movie actors and family. And good stories too. Added information inside as well. I think amazon ought to place this in the western movies collection because I don't think people know about this book. There are a lot of pictures too. A great price and received it fast. If you love the westerns and love recipes you should get this you will enjoy it too

I enjoyed this book more for the memorabilia than for the recipes included. The recipes were interesting, but most could be found in any local community cookbook, or at least something very similar. They were not particularly speaking "cowboy" food. Still, it was terrific fun looking at the photos, reading the captions and finding out that one movie star or another ate the same potato casserole or whatever that our family ate. It brought back a lot of memories for me.

While this book has some really nice recipes there are too many errors in the proofreading. Temperatures are missing for baking, names are misspelled, run together words, too many mistakes in what could be a wonderful book.

It was sad in one way, We have lost so many of these stars, Gene Autry, Roy Rogers, Audie MurphyJohn Wayne etc. But it was neat to almost hear them talk again. Much of the book is Chili recipes and probably those slim actors really did not eat like that but the pictures where good. Festus seemed to have more going for him than appeared.

Okay, so I don't believe that all of these recipes came from all of those celebrities but who cares! It's full of great photographs, bites of nostalgia, tidbits of tasty tips and most of all, recipes that taste good. This cookbook is for those who love good old fashioned stick-to-your-ribs kinds of meals, the kind that you imagine cowboys may have been eating back in the day. Well done!

I ordered this through Amazon on my Kindle.... I love these recipes. Chili, anything your heart desires is in this book. Roy Rogers was a great hero of mine, there are a lot of ideas shared from many in this book. You will not be disappointed......Thanks Amazon.

There are many usable recipes but the real value goes beyond food options. This is a treasure trove of Western trivia especially for those of us who remember the days that westerns ruled the TV. Lots of interesting information!

Some great recipes, reminds me of when I was young living in that little log cabin in Montana with my parents and four siblings!

The heroine is a sixteen year old girl, but I wouldn't call this a young adult novel. There is an attractive man who needs her help & in no way is he set up to be her love interest. How refreshing! Then there is a group of weirdo misfits who become the only sane people in the valley. And then the spaceship wakes up and things really go to h- - -!I can't say too much about the plot without giving away some really surprising and delightful spoilers but believe me, it's quite a roller coaster ride. It doesn't happen too often that I find a book that I can't put down but this one kept me up reading to the wee hours two nights in a row. Thanks!Now I've just got to figure out my budget for this month's book purchases to see how many other books I can buy from this author. Good work!

This started out as an interesting concept and a sardonically narrated novel about an inactive spaceship in small town America. But at the 2/3 mark, as the turn comes and things escalate, the entire theme goes out the window and the story becomes an uninspired knockoff of a Stephen King novel.To be sure, the first half or more of the story is excellent and told in a down-to-earth, quaint way that draws you in. In fact, the first half of the story plays like a slowly building mystery regarding the true nature of the spaceship. It's done well and the characters in the story are richly detailed. A sort of matter-of-fact humor plays throughout too.Then the spaceship takes immediate, dramatic action and things immediately get stupid. Not even kidding, but in a stunning act of genre switching, the ship deploys an army of zombies to chase after someone in the town. They're not traditional zombies in that they're flesh-eaters. But a large portion of them are very dead. Brainwashing someone while they're asleep is one thing, but you can't reanimate a literal rotting corpse, no matter what space-magic the ship has. An analogy: if your car blows a gasket and the engine won't run, having someone else get in the car and turn the key won't cause the car to suddenly work. In the same way, a dead body is dead. It's not deactivated machinery; it's a collection of dead and rotting cells. But that's just the first dumb idea. The aliens themselves just turn out to be energy beings or something, so conveniently they can go or do just about anything. At this point, the climax devolves into meaningless meta-physical bulls*** regarding the aliens. If you cut out the last third of the novel, this could have easily been a 4 or even 5 star story. But the rapid decline into senseless and out-of-context violence and genre flipping nonsense makes this a waste of time. If you're expecting some interesting philosophical take on aliens from a small-scale perspective, you'll be disappointed.

Have you ever had a moment of amazing cleverness that gave you a feeling of intellectual invincibility? If yes, then this book is for you. If not, first I'm sorry, but this book is also for you since it will help you understand what the rest of us have enjoyed. But on a side note, this book is very good and will make you laugh out loud which is always awkward when you're at work and supposed to be working... Basically read the book.Gene Doucette took the idea of First Contact and put a clever spin on it that honestly made me laugh more often then not. Following 16 year old Annie and the other wonderfully crafted characters on the hunt for why the spaceship landed where it did and for what reason reminded my why I keep coming back to everything Gene Doucette writes. !Minor Spoilers ahead! Whilst reading this novel, I kept finding myself in disbelief as the main duo uncovered clues as to the ship's purpose (which Annie and Ed were also in a mild bit of denial as they uncovered things), like why the Wizard of Oz matters, and what is the significance of a drum. Also, why we should all have a great friend who is very introverted, or one who makes Mad Max battle armor. And if you have not read the book yet and you are reading this to see if you should, the above spoilers won't ruin the book for you but should make you curious on how that all matters to a spaceship.If I had to make a comparison to another book, it would be Douglas Adams Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency. The Spaceship Next Door delivers in the same way in that it takes many science fiction topics and adds a wonderfully humorous element that makes you not get terribly upset when the book asks a question about quantum physics involving the 8th dimension and responds with zombies and a 16 year old girl's fascination with shirtless army boys playing basketball...To quickly sum up before I laugh myself into deleting this whole review and starting over from scratch, read the book. It's great. And yes I did laugh out loud at work whilst reading this, and pridefully ignored the stares.

I have experienced both ebook and audiobook editions of this novel.I liked this novel a lot. The characters were all interesting and the plot was a little unusual. Finding a way to meld a couple different genres seems to be one of the few ways to create a story that doesn't fall into the same rut as every other genre novel, and I think this author pulled it off spectacularly.This novel, published independently, does not feel like a stereo-typical "indy novel." It was very professional feeling, with very few technical errors. The chapters were well-structured and the flow of the novel was paced "just right." There was almost no "indy English" issues at allI don't remember if there was an appropriate reading age listed, but I'm fairly sure we could call this a PG book. As a middle-aged adult, I enjoyed it, but I think it would be decent for teenagers.A good read, from front to back.

Sindbad was my hero as a child and read every book that I could find at 12 years old. So after 40 years later, I opened Sindbad's story back up and Muhsin Mahdi's translation is as close as possible. Sindbad was a fantastic sailor and his engaging and beautiful words as a hero helps this modern world--to be a religious, honest man doing the best we can and God helps us out along the way!

Muhsin Mahdi has truly revived the spirit of the story with the '..Nights' in a remarkably electric and vivid fashion! This is the best of the best. No more cluttered or muddy allusions to trip over due to an author's choice of words. . The stories of Sinbad are told in so literal and exciting a fashion to read now, and even again and again. I feeeel like I've been t here before. A masterpiece of splendid delight.

This was a quick read over the course of multiple plane flights using my iPad. Each story contains pieces of morality hidden in the passages. The various poems can get a little tiring and repetitive, but for the most part they do not distract from the story. The overall behavior of the characters can seem a little repetitive as well. However, this classic tale will take you to a forgotten time full of magic and mystery. Come see the darker side of stories involving Sinbad the sailor and Aladin.

Sindbad and Other Stories from the Arabian Nights edited from several of the oldest Arabic versions of the stories by Muhsin Mahdi and translated into English by Husain Haddawy is by far the best edition and the best translation of the familiar stories. If you were introduced to the stories as children's stories or by way of Richard Burton's purposely anachronistic English translation, you will be surprised by how fresh the stories seem when you read Mahdi's and Haddawy's excellent version. The stories are told using a tone that one can easily imagine as that used by an accomplished story-teller enchanting a crowd of listeners.

I did a lot of research when choosing a translation of the 1001 nights, and according to numerous experts this is the one to have at this point in time, especially if you haven't read these stories before.

Their are two parts to the "Arabian Nights" stories. My daughter was looking for a particular story so I bought both books. She read them within two weeks and set them on the shelf, satisfied. This is better if you can find these at the library as you won't re-read them but if you can't find them consider asking the library if they could get it and possibly buy it for them. A good set of stories to read.

Amazon sent me this without the dust jacket. I ordered it with Volume 1 (same translator) and I'm still waiting for the jacket! The books sit on my shelf side-by-side and it looks silly. Plus I thought I paid for the whole book, jacket included, so why didn't I get what I paid for?

Ahhhhh better that going to the movies. Great adventures and descriptive. A gem

This book has everything you need to do successful fluid art work.Recipes, techniques, and supplies for anyone's budget! You don't have to be an established "artist" to do this and it's so much fun! I started out the non-archival route and did the swipe method resulting in "The Cosmic Pickle" among other masterpieces. I'm glad there is a chapter with selling advice.

This book is written by a self-taught mixed-media artist. The book includes examples of his artworks which I liked and found them very useful in the context of the technique explanation.The book starts with a brief history of fluid art. The history starts with Savid Siqueiros, but unfortunately does not show any of his artwork. I was able to locate his work on internet as I wanted to see what his art looked like to influence so many other artists.Then the book describes how to set up your own studio, including the safety equipment such as fire extinguisher. I liked that the author included photos of his own studio as well as the price of the equipment.Finally, the author moves to explaining the technique he uses. The explanations were clear and useful, and the artwork itself is beautiful.One thing I found a little distracting is that the text of every line in this book is centered, rather than using the traditional type setting technique of filling each line start to end. However, I was enjoying the content and the formatting annoyance was minor.Ali Julia review

OMG! What a treat to "step inside" Rick's art studio for an easy-to-follow course on paint pouring. Just like his paints, there was an easy flow of information - color photos in each section, list of actual products and brands that he uses, friendly layout and sequencing, a glossary, other artists to check out, and how to set prices when selling artwork. He thought of everything. And I love his sense of humor. My favorite visual aid is the analogy chart to help us remember the 4 components of a paint pouring "journey": vehicle, passengers, luggage, and destination. This book has totally boosted my confidence! I'm grateful.

Rick's book is an excellent collection of recipes and method recommendations. He begins with a very brief history of the art form and then lists a few recipes followed by short chapters describing a variety of techniques. At the end of the listing is an extensive glossary of terms.The reason I gave this book 3 stars is because it reads more like a white paper - notes for a presentation. The entire book took me about half an hour to read. There were photos of Rick's finished art, which is nice. It would be helpful to have more photos from the actual process.I read this book on my iPhone using the Kindle app. The text was centered and page breaks were inconsistent and sporadic. There were inconsistent gaps in the text making the aesthetic appearance of this book a little distracting. The photos were small and difficult to see.If you are looking for a short book to use as a quick reference guide while creating your liquid pouring art, this book will meet your needs.I received this book for free in exchange of my fair and honest review.

Rich Cheadle is my go to authority in videos that are simple to understand and no chit chat or music for distraction. This book gives you the answers to questions you may have in understanding process. Highly recommend as studio reference.

This book is a great start! I began with nothing and this book taught me what to have to begin and how to use it. Of course, I mixed in a few other things too. I'm attaching a pic of my very first pour on a small table top. It's really shiny but I'm still going to pour a clear self leveling acrylic over it that's for table/bar tops. If you're a rank beginner, this book will get you going.
