5/5 STARSÂ "Dead Weight by Rosemary Reeve is a thrilling read. I haven't read any other Jack Hart mysteries but I will be now! This is a legal mystery with a lot of private detective action in it. The plot is multi-faceted but Rosemary has managed each separate part very well, tying everything up neatly at the end. There is action aplenty, it's really well paced and there's even a bit of humor scattered throughout. This is the kind of writing that draws you in and holds on tight until the story is done, with plenty of hooks to keep you reading. I loved the characters, which are really well developed and likable. The plot is entirely credible; it's clean and it marches along at the right pace for the story, with no dead ends, no fluff. Dead Weight took me by surprise. I lost some weight after a brief illness. Reactions were interesting. People seemed happy that I was better. They seemed happier that I was thinner. On a blustery day, I was crossing I-5 on the way to work. Road repair and ambitious skateboarders pushed me close to the railing of the overpass - and the three-story drop to the freeway below. Someone said, "Don't jump!" right next to me. I couldn't tell if it was a warning or a joke. I liked the ambiguity. By the time I got to work, I had the first line of a Jack Hart Mystery I had not planned on writing, the only book of the series without "Good" in the title: "A woman doesn't kill herself when she's losing weight."

I enjoyed all four of the Jack Hart mystery books.Hoping there will be another very soonAs always I need to connect with the main characters to become engrossed in the storyline.Jack, Harmony and Markdid there parts WELL.Am not familiar with this author but look forward to more of her work.
The 4th book in the Jack Hart series might just be my favorite......until the 5th comes out! The characters continue to be so real to me, the plots (yes, several in each book) credible, the dialogue believable and sprinkled with humor. I can read Ms. Reeve's books knowing there won't be any gratuitous sex or violence...only some cussing that is totally in keeping with the character. I highly recommend this series!
Good read. Multiple plots running so you have to use your memory to keep up. Clues are difficult, so focus on the story from the point of discovering the culprit.
Greatly enjoyed the Jack Hart series; just wish it continued past 3 boos!

The Jack Hart series brings such good reading -- comfortable reading that draws you in. It's what you want to do when you are wondering what to do. The characters have depth and yet are knowable. I highly recommend this book -- even if you have not read the prior ones!
