This play shows, better than any other I have read, the results of defeat in war. The women are the wives and mothers of the men of Troy, killed by the Greeks in The Trojan War. Their homes have been sacked and burned by the Greeks. They have nothing and have no future. One of the greatest plays ever written, this play should be read by every person on earth.
